At Smith Eliot, we believe life is not just about what we gain—it’s about what we give.
We recognise that many of our colleagues, clients, and community members have faced incredibly tough times. That’s why giving back is at the heart of everything we do.
Over the years, we’ve proudly supported a range of remarkable charities, including Rutland Sailability, Cancer Research UK, Warning Zone, Teenage Cancer Trust, The Harley Staples Cancer Trust, Sunflowers, and many other local organisations. Whether through donations or hosting events, we’ve worked to raise awareness and vital funds for causes that truly matter.
We’re always seeking new opportunities to make a meaningful impact. If you know of a cause that could use our support, we’d love to hear from you.
On 25th September 2025, we opened our doors for a heartwarming Macmillan Coffee Morning, inviting clients in for a cuppa, a slice (or two!) of cake, and a good old chinwag. It was a lovely way to come together, raise funds, and support a charity that’s incredibly close to all of us.
We were also joined by the wonderful From Me to You charity, who brought their message of hope and connection through letter writing. Together, we penned thoughtful letters to those affected by cancer and got creative with some origami too – a peaceful and meaningful way to spend the morning.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so special. Your support means the world.
We’re proud to sponsor From Me to You, a UK-based charity dedicated to reducing the isolation and loneliness often felt by people living with cancer—through the simple, heartfelt act of letter writing.
Founded by Alison Hitchcock and Brian Greenley, the charity began with a single letter and grew into a nationwide movement. Today, From Me to You runs workshops, school visits, and community events to inspire people to write letters to friends, family, or even strangers undergoing cancer treatment. Their Donate A Letter programme has delivered thousands of anonymous letters to hospitals and cancer centres, offering comfort, connection, and hope.
As a sponsor, we’re honoured to support their mission and help spread the power of words.

On 20th June 2025, Jack from our Paraplanning team bravely completed a Wing Walk in support of LOROS, a local charity providing hospice care across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. LOROS supports over 2,500 people each year, offering free, compassionate care to terminally ill patients and their families.
This incredible challenge was part of Jack’s fundraising efforts for a cause that means so much to many in our community. We’re incredibly proud of his achievement and grateful for his dedication to such a meaningful cause.

Supporting meaningful causes has always been a core part of our values. A few years ago, we chose to sponsor two children in Guatemala—Fatima and Isaac—through their educational journey. They are now attending school with the help of the Nottingham-based charity, Education for the Children (EFTC).
EFTC works with families in Guatemala who face significant financial hardship and cannot afford to send their children to school. Without this support, many young children would be forced into labor in factories or fields. Our sponsorship covers their education, social and medical care, and general wellbeing. We’re proud to be part of this initiative and will continue to share updates on our website.
If you’re interested in getting involved, you can find more information and ways to help on our website.
We also support a range of local and national charities and are always open to hearing about causes that matter to you. If there's a charity close to your heart, please let us know.
